The Tukur Buratai Institute for War and Peace — advancing knowledge, creativity and innovation in security and peace studies.
In 2016, the then Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. T.Y. Buratai, envisioned the Nigerian Army having its own university to address technological and operational challenges. The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) was established in 2018 with approval from the Federal Executive Council and endorsement from the National Universities Commission.
In 2014, at the height of insurgency in North-East Nigeria, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Buratai town. Lt. Gen. Buratai donated his farm house and land to the NA, which later became part of the university's foundation.
